Professional Sailor – with over thirty years of sailing and over 30,000 miles of offshore racing experience (+60,000 miles deliveries). Additionally, I have been training and supporting recovery operations and support for multiple insurance companies and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) throughout the globe. Recently, I co-authored the handbook “Sailing Rescue Swimmer” and certification. The certification creates a methodology, training, and procedures for assisting a person in the water by training, then sending in a second crew member. Formerly, while seconded to the IMO from the United Nations Department of Safety and Security, I responded to maritime safety and security incidents around the world. The programs I developed have been adopted industry-wide and have assisted in rapid response to critical incidents and overall operational readiness for all those aboard vessels. Throughout my career I have developed safety and training protocols on vessels ranging from Cape and Panama Super Max Freighters to my favorite vessels ranging from 130 luxury sailboats, Volvo Ocean Racers, Clipper Ocean Racers and 40-foot racer cruisers. I have directed security for organizations in Kabul, managed logistics on the docks of Karachi, prepared safe routing for global offshore races, recovered vessels, casualties and hostages from Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Piracy. I am certified as a United Nations Field Security Coordinating Officer, UN Paramedic, USCG Master 100-ton, towing and sailing. I am certifying as a US Sailing Safety at Sea and Sailing Coach. I am entrusted with the Captaining of the 90- foot Metal Shark (150-pax, passenger vessels Washington DC Ferry. These accomplishments followed service in the United States Army, 25th Infantry Division (Light) Headquarters in the Plans and Operations Cell (G-3) in Hawaii.
