Seeking mutually beneficial partnerships within boating the boating industry where I can passionately contribute my advanced skills in business intelligence, sales, marketing, and technical solutions as a skilled and seasoned professional mariner.

My passion for boating was something that I was born with. With over 47 years of practical on water experience on the Great Lakes, Gulf Coast, Florida Keys and Bahamas. Having a career spanning over 45 years involving nearly every facet within the marine industry from starting in retail marine, service, manufacturing r&d, project management, IT and technology development. My current Professional Mariner Credential is USCG Licensed Master 100GT

Through the years of experience, interactions and professional development has resulted in me becoming an expert strategist, analyst, planner, team leader, negotiator and business driver who has delivered sustainable growth and profits in targeted markets.

Experience

With over 50 years of on water experience and 36 years experience as a captain, I have gained experience in all aspects of Boat design, manufacturing, refits, restoration, retail, marina operations and service. I feel that the culmination of my business skills and years of hands on practical experience in the industry is what makes me the captain I am today.


2017 - Present Startup Venture – Aquaventure Charters LLC President

New startup venture focusing on private luxury yacht charters with a 60’ & 40’ Sunseeker, hosting on water excursions and theme-based charity boating events. USCG Licensed Master 100GT with over 42 years of on water boating experience. My passion for the water, boating and our environment is what drives me to create and share positive boating experiences with others through education, awareness and practical hands-on boating interactions while contributing to community focused charitable initiatives.


2012 – 2022 – LA BoatWorks President

New startup venture returning to my marine industry roots. LA BoatWorks core competencies focus around environmental responsibility and sustainability within the marine industry through conservation, recycling, and restoration of watercraft and power-sport related equipment. Recent innovations include the development of an exclusive vacuum air dry and resin infusion process for drying out wet substrates and infusing them with a low viscosity deep penetrating resin to restore the structural integrity of the substrate. Developed a mechanical process for recycling composites, through shredding, milling, air classifying and screening to separate resins and recover fibers to process as a value-add product for concrete, roofing, plastic lumber and other construction materials.


2007 - Present - Performance Boat Club Events & Charities President

PBCE Inc. is a not-for-profit and charitable organization with the mission to promote safe and responsible performance boating through education, awareness, and organized boating events. As President and managing director, my duties include organizing 5-7 charity poker run events throughout the boating season in Ontario, working through the logistics of event planning, securing the event sponsors and auction donors, meeting with local municipalities, law enforcement, marine patrols, volunteers, marshalling events, event photography, managing auction and award dinners. Since 2007 we have donated in excess of $1,000,000 to various charities and local communities.


1998 - 2020 Net~Source Technologies, Orillia, Ontario President

Through my consulting company I cultivated a loyal customer base, assisted with brand development, created online marketing strategies based on individual client requirements and objectives, created logos, ads, catalogues (online and print), online marketing initiatives, surveys, polls and key performance measurements. Lead photographer for all corporate imaging and content development. Designed, developed, hosted and managed websites for 200 plus clients utilizing leading edge web content management systems designed to be cross platform compatible, fully integrated, user and search-engine friendly. Completed constant analysis of positioning reports and web university courses to become an area leader in web SEO services.


2001 - 2004 Ash City Worldwide, Toronto, Ontario Technical Consultant

I engineered corporate web solutions, including online catalogues, logic for shopping cart, account management and order tracking. Developed Automatic Order Notification system logic and online image banks. Created CRM data structure and worked with team to implement CRM and train staff on the application. Implemented processes for online product promotion cycle from launch, specials and liquidations. Provided sales and technical support as well as performed competitive analysis, defined and reported on current market trends. Implemented and managed key performance indicators for marketing and sales force as approved by company CEO and COO. Served on strategic planning committee that consisted of COO, CFO, and senior managers from finance, sales, marketing and customer service departments and operated with a continuous improvement mandate.


1992 - 1998 Hot Knots Racing, Orillia, Ontario - General Manager & Special Projects

Responsible for the set-up of a high performance, full service marine facility including a custom rig shop, machine shop with engine dynamometer cell, paint shop, parts and marina. Increased boat sales, supported and trained staff in all aspects of high-performance marine technologies. As special projects manager duties included R&D on EFI and forced induction fuel systems. Operated propulsion lab whose function was testing hull, engine and propeller efficiencies for optimal performance and future references. Designed and managed construction of a one-off 46’ V-bottom offshore powerboat capable of speeds in excess of 140mph.


1988-1991 Precision Services Inc., Lake Charles, Louisiana Consulting/Contract Services

Hot Knots Racing, Orillia, Ontario - Special Project Manager

Custom rigged and outfitted engines on various boats. Responsible for complete restoration and re-power of 1982 33' Fountain. Blue printed bottom, refit and re-powered 1990 38' Fountain, completed re-power and modifications on 40' Fountain.


Mercury Power Boats, Rockledge, Florida Product Development & Design, Mercury Marine

Responsible for performance testing and evaluation of hull prototypes. Responsible for Compliance Manual for ABYC and NMMA Standards. Responsible for managing print book and bill of materials. Analyzed production flaws, coordinated between design depts. and manufacturing to bridge communication and production gaps.


Talon Marine, Sarasota, Florida Rigging Consultant & Crew Chief for Offshore Race Team

Developed hi performance composite structures utilizing advanced materials and techniques. Shortened production times by providing technical support for final rigging, engines, steering, electronics and related monitoring systems. Water tested completed hulls to validate and ensure performance within design envelope. Performed QC, pre delivery inspections and owner training in boat handling and maintenance. Served as crew chief for factory offshore race team.


1987-1988 Hydra Sports Inc., Nashville, Tennessee Special Projects Manager

I was responsible for bringing 3300SF center console tournament grade sport fish from prototype stage to full production. Increased productivity from one boat every four weeks to one per week. Re engineered electrical systems, hull stringer system and laminate schedule. Supervised crews, constantly met challenges, and increased productivity, without sacrificing quality. Provided dealer support and training for optimizing rigging and set up on all blue water production hulls.


1986-1987 Lake Charles Marine Inc., Lake Charles, Louisiana Vice President

Set up and organized new full service marine dealership. Responsible for ordering boat and motor inventory, parts and accessories. Responsible for equipping facility, hiring of personnel, provided technical support to sales and service personnel as well with customers. Trained as a factory certified marine technician for Mercury Marine, Mercruiser, and Suzuki Outboards.


1984-1986 Creative Marine Inc., Lake Charles, Louisiana President

Creative Marine served as warranty service facility for Hydra Sports Boats. Fiberglass repairs and custom fabrication were our core competencies. I performed custom rigging, mechanical services, provided installation and service of marine electronics for petroleum industry vessels and local sport and commercial fishermen. Certifications included 1st class Electronics tech 1982, USGC master 100GT Captains license in 1984, Salvage Diver and Certified PADI Dive instructor in 1982. Serviced as delivery and standby captain for yacht brokers along the gulf coast between Houston Tx. and Ft Lauderdale Fla.
