Bio

I am Capt. Michael “Knotty” McQueen, a Maryland Commercial Fishing Guide in and a Traveling Captain for Hire. I own and operate ReelAttitudeFishing357 Charters in Solomons Island MD and the Lead Captain of Mahogany Yacht Charters on the Potomac River here in Washington DC. I have logged well over 25+ years of sea time in my lifetime on the Chesapeake Bay, Patuxent River, Potomac River, Anacostia River, and The Washington Channel. The vessels I've had the pleasure of operating are a 35ft Bay Built Wooden Fishing Charter Boat (Single 454 Gas), 36ft Luhrs (Twin 350 Crusaders Gas), 40ft Silverton (Twin Crusaders Gas), 34ft Sea Ray Sundancer (Twin Mercruisers Gas), 26ft Parker (Outboard Yamaha Gas), 38ft Trojan (Twin Engines Gas), and my least favorite, Pontoon boats.

Due to my background in education coupled with extensive experience in safe boating, bottom fishing, trolling, live lining, hospitality, and customer service. I am a great fit for a Captain position for you and/ or your organization. With my experience comes a wealth of knowledge. I can ensure a vessel is in good working order by knowing how to check and maintain its condition both before and after being underway.

The education I received obtain my USCG Master Merchant Mariner Credential taught me how to properly operate a vessel along with how to prevent, assess, and address potential hazards and emergencies. Knowing when to communicate with the USCG is an important component as well, and I not only know when its required, but also how to use the appropriate verbiage over various radio systems (VHF/ CB).

If hired to be your Captain, I would be able to research, chart, and submit courses to my client. I would also be more than able to operate the helm and educate new Captains to do the same.
